EXPERIMENT WITH SHELLS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 23. For two shillings a resident of Hiikenlicad bought lour, shells of the German “wliizzbang - ’ ty|K\ desiring to have the brass casings. He took them home from the city by ferry boat and bus. Next day the children played with them and later the- new owner proceeded, with the aid of a cold' chisel, to ascertain if they were alive. The result being positive in nature, lie promptly handed them-over to the police and later they were taken possession of by officers of the Defence Department. ~ “The shells are very much alive, said one of the officers. “The man who attempted to open one with a cold chisel is lucky to be living.”
