FLYING COMPETITIONS.
AA’ANGANUI r. MANAWATU. Competitions were held at the Milson aerodrome at the week-end between teams from the AVanganui and the Middle Districts (Manawatu) Aero Clubs. Wind made flying a little difficult and clouds reduced the flying oeiling to about 3500 feet. SquadronLeader Fowler, of Palmerston North, carried out the judging. The visitors won by 1099 points to 990. The results were as follow: Landing.—AVanganui: Messrs Strachan 77 points, Franklin 60, Congreve 59, King 55, Lethbridge 45, Tasker 43. Manawatu: Messrs D. -Smillie 80, McLeod 75; .Short 63, J. Smillie 57, Lecher 54.—Wanganui 339, Manawatu 329. R. Linklater was unable to be present to represent the home team in the first competition.
Bombing. AVanganui: Messrs Franklin 68. Strachan 67, King 53, Lethbridge 53. Congreve 49, Tasker 32. Manawatu: Messrs Short 61, J. Smillie 60, D. Smillie 60. McLeod 58. Lecher 56, Linklater 48.—AA’anganui 322. Manawatu 343.
Message - dropping. AVanganui: Messrs Strachan 92. Franklin 91, Tasker 78, Congreve 70. King 55, Lethbridge 52. Manawatu: Messrs Linklater 93, Lecher 76. J. Smillie 70, McLeod 43, D. Smillie 36..—Wanganui 438, Manawatu 318. Mr Short was disqualified for flying too low. The total points were thus: AVanganui 1099, Manawatu 990.
