STRONG CLOSING NOTE. BROKERS’ REPORTS. The London wool sales closed on Saturday and the following cabled reports have been received by New Zealand houses: — The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.: —The wool sales opened weakly, but closed strongly; Home buyers were the principal operators, hut competition on French account was fairly active. Russia was operating. As compared with last sale’s closing rales prices are par to id per lb lower for greasy and scoured Merino inferior. Merino lambs and fine greasy crossbred; id to Id per lb lower for crossbred lambs and coarse crossbred slipe: Id per lb lower for fine and medium crossbred slipe; prices are par to id per lb higher for scoured Merino super; id per lb higher for greasy Merino super, and id to.ld per lb higher for medium and coarse greasy crossbred. Quotations for good average New Zealand wool, greasy fleece, 64's, 15d to 16d per lb; 60-64's, 14id lo 15id per lb; 56-58’s, 13d to 14d per lb; 56’s. llld to 12Jd per lb; 50’s, 9-Jd to lljd per lb; 48-50’s, 9d to 10Jd; 48’*, 83(1 to 9id; per lb; 46-48’s, 8 2 d to 9RI per lb; 46's, B.jd to 9id per lb; 44 46’s. Bid to 9RI per lb;-40-44's, Bid to 9d per lb; 40 s, Bjd lo 9d per lb Levin and Co., Ltd.—Auctions closed with a good tone, and good general competition, including Russia. Totui quantity offered. 84,000 Dales; sold, 72,000; i carried forward 45,000, including 3t,U00 bales from New Zoalind. There were only a few offered, quotations being more or less nominal. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham amt Williams. Ltd -T lie sales closed before an average attendance of buvers, among whom compelltion was animated. Continental and Bradford buyers were the chief operators 1 1,0 LA” mainecl unchanged to firm; 80.000 halt, were offered during the scries, ami of these 72.000 were sold. A good sc lemon of wool was offered. Slipe wools were firmer than at, the opening of the series. Australian Merino was of New Squtli Wales.—Sales closed to-dav with good competition and prices for till 'qualities have hardened, especially medium and coarse crossbreds.
