FEILDING PLUNKET SOCIETY.
CHILDREN’S PARTY. Picturesquely-garbed little people presented a scene of animation at the Parish. Hall on Saturday afternoon, when a children’s plain and fancy dress party was held in aid of the baby king and queen carnival. The hall had been prettily decorated with streamers of every hue, and balloons suspended over the tea tables in the supper-rooms attracted the eyes of the little ones. Bowls of pink camelias adorned the tables, and multi-coloured serviettes gave additional brightness. A large birthday cake occupied a prominent position, and was presented to the society by Mr E. Whitehead. Mrs A. McCorkiiidale (president of the branch) was hostess for the afternoon, and in the carrying out of the arrangements was assisted by the secretary (Mrs P. G. Stevens) and a band of mothers, comprising Mesdnmes W. Drube. 7’. Kelly, L. Blackbourn. Funnell, Hubbard, and Svendson, whilst the general committee also helped considerably with the entertaining of the children., The president introduced to the gathering the town candidates, Margaret Kelly and John Drube, and explained that the party had been especially arranged in their honour. Mrs McCorkindale expressed great pleasure at there being such an excellent attendance of mothers and thanked the gathering for its loyal support. Among the fancy costumes were Dutch boys and girls, pierrots, Pierrettes, sailors, clowns, fairies, rajahs, and many others. Misses J. Crabbe and M. Armour very kindly played for the children’s dancing.
