(From Our Own Correspondent.) Ol'AKl, July 17. Rev. Father Uiordan lias left to take up his residence ia llawke’s Bay. On Wednesday afternoon, at the Otaki Stale School, there was a very pleasing and interesting function when Miss Rieefiel organised a curio day for the purpose of raising funds for the purchase of supplementary renders. A meeting of the committee of the Ofaki 11. and JJ. Society was held last night, Mr Atmore presiding. It was- explained that the Boiough Council desired to combine with the society in the planting of trees on Arbor Day. Various suggest ons were made, and it was finally agreed to combine with the council and to advocate the plain i g of trees from Moutore corner to the bench, part of Tasman Road to be planted with poliutukawas. Mr Adams was welcomed to the committee as a new member. Gordon and Ray Morwood, two leading footballers ol the district,, will start in the League game in Wellington on Saturday. free in form and conversant with llic rules, the two brothers should do well. It is probable that other leading Rugby players will go over to the League game.
