CYCLISTS INJURED

COLLISION WITH CAR. A fracture of the right leg and head injuries were suffered by Mr Gordon Harlow, son of Mr and Mils 13. F. Harlow, of 298 Park Hoad, u hen the cycle he was riding was involved in a collision with -a car about 5 p.m. yesterday. Mr Barlow, who is employed as a laboratory assistant,at the Dairy Research Institute, was turning from the Massev College driveway on to the main road when the collision took place. He was thrown against a telephono polo and his cycle struck Miss L. Brown, who was standing nearby waiting for a bus. Miss Brown received injuries to a leg, but she was able to proceed home. The Free Ambulance was summoned and transported Mr Barlow to the Hospital. An X-ray examination was carried out and an operation performed last night, and this morning it was reported that the patient’s condition was quite satisfactory. The driver of the car was Mr A. Tucker, of Foxton. who was proceeding to Palmerston North from Linton. MISHAP NEAR PAEKAKARIKI, PALMERSTON NORTH RESIDENT INJURED. Mias Elizabeth Huddleston, of Broadway Avenue, Palmerston North, a middle-aged woman, was found on the roadside just north of Paekakariki last night suffering from abrasions and shock. She was unconscious. After being taken to the Wellington Hospital Miss Huddleston regained consciousness, and early this morning her condition was regarded as satisfactory. It is understood that Miss Huddleston was cycling from Palmerston North to Wellington and, while she was unable to explain the accident last night, it is believed that the brake on the front wheel of her bicycle ja.mbed, and she must have been thrown on her head to the roadway. She was found by a service car driver, and was attended to by the district nurse before being taken to Wellington by the Free Ambulance.
