PRICE OF BREAD
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 15. Revised Dominion-wide fixed prices for bread based on schedules of labour costs arc expected to become effective from September 1. To facilitate the preparation of the price lists and their issue' by that date the Conciliation Council proceedings in tlio Dominion dispute between the master bakers and the operatives have been advanced to July 21. Announcing the advance in date, the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr M. J. Reardon) said the request for an earlier fixture had been made by the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Hon. D. G. Sullivan) and it had been agreed to by the Master Bakers and Operatives’ Associations. By disposing of' the Conciliation Council stage of the proceedings next week, the Arbitration Court would be able to deal in August with the principal issues in the dispute—the 40-hour week. daylight baking, and wages. If this were achieved the Minister would be able to revise tl'e fixed bread prices as from September 1. The Conciliation Council will sit- at Wellington.
