LONDON FASHIONS.
HOLIDAY CLOTHES. Holiday pleasure depends much on the comfort of holiday clothes, and nowadays both comfort and neatness are expected For all forms of holiday activity then; are comfortable culottes which reach about half-way between kiioe and ankle. They are cut to fit closely round the hips and flare at the hem, the divided skirt only appearing with the wearer’s movements. In grey or navy flannel or jersey material they are made to he worn with shirt blouses, tailored waistcoats, short tailored .jackets in matching material and handknitted sweaters in brilliant colours. Black and a very dark shade of brown look well with vivid orange or green contrasts Drill is thoroughly suitable for hikiim and bicycling, and for less strenuous exorcise there are two-piece suits ol shirt and shorts in linen .and pique. The addition of a backless top with halter neckline and matching culottes makes a comprehensive holiday outfit. Culotte suits of light-weight tweed, linen, o" silk shantung meet the needs of travelers. They are trimly tailored; the culottes are quite plain or with double pleat in centre of the front and hack, and the jacket has two or more patch pockets and a neat high neckline.
Sleeveless and collarless one-piece tennis dresses of pique. d'ill, or linen have flared knee-length skirts or shorts. Others have front revers and deep-cut hacks and a wrap-around skirt which buttons at the side hack. Some of the newest hand-knitted suits and dresses arc in new textures of wool or cotton houcle with a ribbed or pebbled effect. On others a dull surface is given by a close texture which makes them particularly suitable for slim tailored suits.
Gay colours stand out, in all the beach and bathing fashions. There are swimming suits of heavy ribbed and novelty knitting, or of satin smooth elastic yarn made to fit without a wrinkle. They give a broad open expanse at the hack, with squared or draw-string neckline in front and very narrow .shoulder straps. In contrast to these, beach suits are cut on easier lines, shorts and culottes have brassiere tops and are in printed linen or cotton in strong toning or contrasting colours.
