OLD BOYS BEAT KIA TOA

The junior curtain-raiser on the oval was played between Old Boys, leaders in the competition, and Kia Ton. The blues fielded only 13 men and put up a fine fight in the firstspell, keeping the score down to an B—o8 —0 margin in favour of Old Boys. Their defence slackened in the second spell and the blacks added 16 more points, running out winners by 24 points to nil. Old Boys opened their scoring account with a fine back movement, in itinted by Egdcll, at half, ball passing through the backs to Carson, who cut in beautifully and transferred to Gardiner, who ran round and scored between the posts.
