KING’S CUP RACE.

WON BY GARDNER. LONDON, July 11. The final for the King’s Cup air race was flown in a gusty wind and rain showers over ’ 12 circuits of the 26-mile course. Mr Charles Gardner, flying Sir Connop Guthrie’s Percival Vega Gull, which received 25 minutes 33 seconds start and averaged 164.5 miles an hour, was first. Flight-Lieutenant T. Rose, in Countess Wakefield's Miles Hawk, with 11 minutes 25 seconds start, averaged 184.5 miles an hour to finish second. Flight-Lieutenant J. B. Wilson, in Lord Willoughby de Broke’s Double Eagle, with 12 minutes 30 seconds start, averaged 181.1 miles an hour and was third. Captain Percival, in the Duke of Kent’s Percival Mew Gull, flying from scratch, averaged 203 miles an hour and was fourth, despite flying the last lap at 211 miles an hour, equalling his last year’s record. Mr C. W. A. Scott, flying his own Miles Falcon, received 15 minutes 55 seconds, and was thirteenth. He averaged 165.5 miles an hour.
