SANSON OLD BOYS

ANNUAL REUNION

(From Our Own Correspondent.) SANSON, duly 6.

The 32ik1 annual reunion of the Sanson Old Boys’ Association, which was held in the Town Hall on Friday evening, proved an unqualified success, old pupils being present from all parts of the North Island. A roll taken of the old pupils attending revealed a total of 127, this eclipsing last year’s total by one. No effort was spared to make the function an outstanding success and great credit is due to the ladies’ committee, the secretary (Mr K. Pearce), the assistant-secretary (Mr A. G. Ncsbit) and the members of the. local committee. The ball was beautifully decorated with streamers of red, white and blue and a pleasing effect, was rendered by the touches of greenery that covered the walls. The hostesses were Mosjdams J. (J. Fagan, W. K. l’oaree and Miss-N. Penny. A splendid concert programme was arranged, and was enjoyed by the large number present, which rnlist, have been in the vicinity of 350. The artists who assisted were Airs Curtis (vocal items), Misses Hnelson and Peattio (tap dances), Messrs Curtis (vocal), N. Shelton (vocal) and Mr Dawson (tap dance). The president of the association (Mr J. C. Fagan), in addressing the gathering, said it, gave him much pleasure to have the privilege of extending to all a hearty welcome. He hoped that all would enjoy themselves and take the opportunity of renewing old schooldays friendships. He spoko of flic first reunion that was held and explained how tho association came into being 32 years ago. Mr Fagan said he wished to take the opportunity of extending to Mr and Mrs W. J. Crouchcr, who had been such staunch supporters of the association, host wishes for a very happy and enjoyable holiday in Suva. Mr Fagan thou invited Mr W. J. Crouchcr to say something with respect to tho proposal that had been mooted with the object of honouring the pioneers of the Manawatu.

Mr Crouehor briefly thanked Air Fagan for his remarks and for the opportunity of addressing the gathering. Air Croueliers remarks arc reported on another page. 'The president then took the opportunity of extending a welcome to 1 Air C. L. Hunter, M.P. for Alanawatu and Airs Hunter. Ho sai.(l that all were pleased to see them present and hoped that they would have a happy stay—in the district. Air Hunter, in his reply, thanked the speaker for his remarks and said that it gave him great pleasure to bo present. “It looks as if a now hall is needed, judging by the large number wiio are present,” said Mr Hunter. “Perhaps I shall be able to do something to have that carried out.” (Applause.) was citinued till a late hour by the younger members.
