FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
OROUA LODGE OF DRUIDS. At the fortnightlv meeting of the Oroua Lodge of Druids. A.T). Bro. L. Mudford presided over a very good attendance. including visitors from Acorn, Pahiafua. Trafalgar. Otaki. Makino and Ruahine Lodges. An invitation to the next meeting of Acorn Lodge was accepted and it was decided to pay an official visit. Five young men were initiated i"to the rites of ancient Druidism. P.A. Bro. Buchanan reported on having attended a meeting of the Friendly Societies’ Council. P.A. Bro. Gilmore reported on the U.F.S. Dispensary. Tt was reported that the Jackson howls trophy had again changed hands, Bro. Flsmore and Si«. A. N. Jackson having beaten Bros. Lvall and Humphries D.P. Bro. Drake presented the trophy to the winners. Tt was decided to challenge Acorn Lodge for the cribbage shield. After the closing of the j lodge the floor was cleared and dancing was soon in progress, the evening having being set aside for the entertainment of members and friends. An orchestra, under Bro. Rabbitts. rendered splendid music and Bro. C. 1 Lloyd played extras. A tap dance I by Master Claude Henderson, accompanied by Miss June Scott on the piano, was applauded and an encore called for and given. A Monte Carlo waltz was won bv Sis. Wilkinson and Bro. P. Wills.
