HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The monthly meeting of the Palmerston North Horticultural Society was hold in the Baptist school room on Mondav evening, when Mr Just presided. The subject for the evening was “Vegetable Growing.” which was treated in a very capable, manner by Mr Evans. The speaker emphasised the need of deep digging; gave appropriate dates for sowing; and gave particulars of liow to treat the growing crops. Following an interesting discussion, the speaker was accorded a vote of thanks. The monthly competition for a vase of flowers resulted as follows: Mrs J. Lmtisson (anemones) 1, Mr H. J. Ogier (daphne) 2, Mr J. B. Morgan (narcissus) 3.
