MANAWATU HUNT BALL.

PREPARATIONS IN TRAIN. A special meeting of the Manawatu Hunt Club was Held in the Commerce Buildings last evening, when extensive preparations for the forthcoming Hunt Club ball were made. The master of the hunt, Mr S. G. Perry, presided over a good attendance of members, most of whom were from the Kiwitea district.* Those present were:—Mesdames Perry, McDonald, Hall, L. H. Collinson, Beatson, T. R. Taylor, IV. Taylor and A. B. Johnston; Misses J. Cousins, R. Perry, D. Perry, G. Hall and Roulston; Messrs L. H. Collinson, F. S. Mcßeth, S. Lodge, A. IV. McDonald, C. A. Banks, 0. Perry, R. IV. Buchanan, It. Brown, T. R. Taylor, E. Cousins, Burrell, J. Waller, -1). Scott and IV. E. Taylor. On the motion of the chairman, Messrs N. M. Thomson a.nd S. Lodge were appointed joint- secretaries for the ball.

After a short discussion it ivas decided to hold the ball in the Drill Hall at Feilding on August 7. It was decided that the whole meeting form a general committee, to which were added the names of Dr S. J. Thompson and Mrs Thompson. The following subsidiary committees were formed: —Supper committee, Mcsda.mes S. Cl. Perry and L. H. Collinson with power to select their coworkers; invitation committee, Messrs IX Scott, 0. Perry, C. A. Banks, T. It. Taylor, Mesdames A. B. Johnston, L. H.'Collinson and McDonald, IMisses I*. Conway, G. Hall, J. Cousins and M. Nathan ; decoration committee, Mrs T. It. Taylor, with power to select her co-workers; programme committee, Messrs T. It. Taylor, W. Taylor, E. Cousins, F. S. Mcßeth, It. Brown. D. Scott, L. H. Collinson, A. W. McDonakl, Mrs Johnston and Miss D. Perry. (This committee will also act as M.C.’s on the night of the ball.) It was decided that the engagement of a small orchestra to play the extra music be left in the hands of the programme committee, the cost to be not more than £2 10s. After a further discussion it was decided that all present be guarantors of the ball. . Complimentary tickets are to be issued to property owners who are not active members of the hunt. Ihe ladies of the meeting decided that a meat supper be served on the night of the ball.
