(From Our Own Correspondent.) MILSON, June 16. The monthly meeting of the Aliison School Committee was held in the schoolroom last evening, Air l l '. G. -Murphy presiding. Also present were Alessrs G. Richmond, J. Eaton, and L. Robertson (secrotary). Apologies for absence were received from .Messrs 8. Thompson and 'J'. Hutchison. The headmaster (-Mr AlcEwen) reported as follows: —*M regret to state that a serious accident befell one of the senior pupils, -Muriel Barclay, who slipped on the asphalt, breaking her arm.” The chairman moved that a letter of appreciation be forwarded to Air G. Eairey for his willing services rendered to the girl in taking her to the hospital for medical attention, and that he com ej to the owner of the ear the committee's and parents’ gratitude for their assistance. The girl i s progressing quite well. It was decided to issue invitations to residents and all interested in the children’s welfare to the ladies’ committee meeting. Air -Murphy, representative on the dental clinic committee, gave an account of the excellent work performed by the staff of the clinic at Tcracer End and expressed his desire to sec'more parents take advantage of the services provided. live hundred tournament was hold in the hall on Friday evening, there being a good attendance. The ladies’ prizo was won bv Airs Barclay, and -Mr L. Kitchen won the men s. The prize for the lucky number was won by Airs E. Leathlcy. Air E. Johansen was in charge of the tournament. q'lie inonthly meeting of the Allison Progressive Association was held during the week-end, Mr G. Richmond presiding. Also present wore Alessrs Ferguson, Nicholls, Johnston, Gumming, and All C. Bcnuctto (acting-secretary). Gorrespondence was received from the Takaro Progressive Association regarding the Ims fares for children, and it was decided to support them in their efforts. A letter of sympathy is to be forwarded to Air J. J. Gilbert (secretary) who is at present an imatc _of the' Hospital. Mr C. Bennetto was appointed acting secretary during Air Gilbert’s absence. An application is to ho made to the Bailway Department for the use of a lorry for the periodical collection of rubbish. Accounts were passed for payment. The Central School girls’ basketball team played a match with Aiilson on Friday afternoon on the Terrace End ground. 'J he local team were defeated by 14 goals 1o 10.
