DRINK AT DANCES.

“A GROAVING EY’IL.” FARMERS URGE ACTION. Pe>- Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 28. Describing drinking at public dances as “a serious and growing evil” which is ‘‘demoralising our young people,’ the Auckland Farmers’ Union conference to-day passed a remit, moved by Air Rockwell (Bay of islands) and seconded by Air Ziman (Cambridge), as follows: —“That, as drinking at public dances is last becoming a serious social evil, the Government bo urged to adopt measures that will prevent intoxicating liquor being used at such dances.” Mr Zunan said it was a growing evil and no one was fully armed with authority to deal with it. Several speakers endorsed the proposal.
