WORK AT ELLERSLIE. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Alay 28. The final gallops for the Auckland Racing Club’s Great Northern • meeting xvere held at Ellcrslic this morning. The Cornwall Handicap candidates, Pakamii and Tooley Street, were associated over a round, tho latter finishing xvell in front in 1.50 2-5. Tooley Street worked xvell. . Solaria did (lie last half mile in 50sec in first-rato order. Master Afusk finished xvell in front of United over seven furlongs in 1.32 3-5. Dollar Bill did six furlongs in 1.17 1-5. equalling the best of the morning over the distance. Onewhetu did his last half mile in 52 1Horoxvhenua and Lagoon did seven- furlongs in 1.32 1-5; both xvorked xvell. Town Beauty and Billy Boy did a round in 1.59. Tho best effort over a mile xvas credited to Crooning and Scotland in 1.45 4-5, the last half mile in 51 3-ssee. Alungatoon did seven furlongs in 1.33 4-5, the last half mile in 52 3-ssoc. THE JUMPERS. Sporting Song and Saltspray stnrted off for a school over four hurdles on the course proper. They jumped safely till reaching tho third fence, xvhere both lost their riders. Sporting Song xvas remounted and jumped the last, but Saltspray was not persevered xvith. Yal Watch xvas given a similar task and. jumping well throughout, registered 1.20 4-5 from hurdle to hurdle. Illuminagh and Kapana shaped well over the same fences in 1 19 4-5. Contact gave a first-class exhibition over four hurdles on the course proper in 1.23 2- and could have improved. Jolly Boggar, Scotch Nation, and Silk Sox xvere also schooled over four hurdles on the course proper, Jolly Beggar finishing in front in 1.18 2-5. Jolly Beggar jumped exceptionally well. The other pair xvould lose no friends. Tangled and Royal Lnnond started ott at tho top of the straight over the hurdles on' the course proper and continued over them along the back. They then wont up the hill and wound up their task by jumping the fences on the flat. Both . xvent xvell, Royal Limond jumping very evenly throughout. . , , Windsor Lad and Cynical Kid gave a good display over a round of the steeplechase course. Nun Nicer xvas scratched for all engagements at 11.10 a.m. Imperial Prince was withdrawn from the Greenlanc Steeple* chase at 11.26 a.m.
