CROSSING SMASH.

ENGINE STRIKES CAR, Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, May 26. When a locomotive crashed into a motor-car at an Inglewood level crossing this afternoon, Mrs W. H. Franklyn, an elderly woman, received injuries to her head and was admitted to hospital for observation. Three other occupants of the car escaped injury, though the driver, Mr E. J. Dobson, was thrown on to the line after the unattached locomotive had passed. The car was crushed.
