BACK TO WORK.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS. Yesterday the secondary schools of Palmerston North recommenced work after a fortnight’s vacation. The Boys’ High School roll at the end of last term was 110 and there was no alteration in the figure on the resumption of studies yesterday. Also, there were no staff changes. At the Technical College there were satisfactory increases ill 1 both the. day and night classes. The new machinery is now being installed iii the engineering workshop, the building of which has been completed. The roll at the Girls’ High School is now 288. one now pupil having been added. Miss E. Stephens, the new headmistress, is not expected until July 1. Miss K. Horton (Greytown) takes the place of Miss E. F Peglar, and Miss French (Suva) is relieving. Jt is hoped that the two new rooms will be ready some time in June.
