EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD,” MAY 27, 1906. During the previous twelve months the Palmerston North Fire Brigade had received 38 calls, of which five had been false. A “small” farmer near Levin was reported to have made £7OO in two years from a holding of 50 acres, the returns being principally from dairying. The Palmerston North Riffos, under Captain Mounsey, were to compote for the battalion shield at Wanganui on the Prince of Wales's Birthday. Following a great deal of discussion at a well-attended meeting, it bad been decided that the Palmerston North Coursing Club continue to operate.
