GOOD RELATIONS
WITH GREAT BRITAIN. DESIRE IN JAPAN. NEW AMBASSADOR’S AIMS. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Times Cables.) Received May 22, 9 a.m. LONDON, May 21. • The Times Tokio correspondent says the departure for London of Mr Yoshida, the new Ambassador, has enabled the newspapers to proclaim the importance which Japan attaches to good relations with Britain. Various accounts of his instructions include suggestions for a trade conference with the British Empire, and lower British colonial tariffs, also British abstention from interposing in Japan’s negotiations with Australia and Egypt. Mr Yoshida does not take definite instructions to London on these matters. Nevertheless, many influential Japanese dislike the present isolation. Mr Yoshida’s efforts to revive AngloJapanese friendship will have military, official, and popular support.
