PAHIATUA, May 13. The second scries of games in tho third grade Rugby competition were played this week. At Mangatainoka, Athletic defeated Mangatainoka by 18 points lo nil. Tries were scored by F. Mills (2), M. Kershaw, and R. Galbally, Miller converting three. Mr I{. McCulloch refereed. Ekctalnina Old Boys won by default front Balluncc. Austin, secretary to the Bush Co-operative Herd Testing Association: —Association average: 3468 cows, 495 milk, 5.26 test, 26.05 fat. Highest herd under 30 cows: 16 cows, 38.5 fat. Highest herd, 31 to 50 cows: 50 cows, 36.20 fat. Highest herd, over 50 cows: 52 cows, 34.19 fat. Lowest herd: 30 cows, 14.83 fat. Highest cow: 681 b fat. All B class cows arc included in the above averages. There was a fair attendance at the. Convent School euchre party. Mesdames Hirst and Groves tied for the ladies’ prize. Mr 11. Vile was successful in tho men’s competition. The annual meeting of die Methodist Ladies' Guild was hold during the week, Mrs K. M. Roberts presiding. The election of officers resulted as follows President, Mrs K. M. Roberts; vice-presidents, Mesdaines Willis, Hanson and Ryan; secretary, Mrs 11. R. Ogg; treasurer, Miss M. Olsen; organists, Mesdames Ryan, Dodd, and Ogg. The report stated that tho efforts of the gift shops and annual sale of work had resulted in £BO being made available for the church circuit fund. The membership had remained approximately the same. The onlv improvements carried out during the year constituted the installation of a few necessities in the parsonage.
