FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

ROYAL ARCH CHAPTER, U.A.O.D. The monthly meeting of the Royal Arch Chapter, No. 10, was held in the Rialto Hall on Alonday. night. R.A.D. Bro. AY. Buchanan presiding over a good attendance. Two new members were initiated into the Chapter of Instruction. The report of the committee set up to revise the examination papers for A.l). and ALA. was received and adopted. The report and balance-sheet for the new syllabus was also adopted, and the minutes of the R.A.C. conference were read and received. The examination of candidates for office was then preceded with, one member gaining his A.D. certificate, and two the Y.A. certificate. Examining officers were appointed as follow:—Acorn, Bros. AV. Buchanan and A. Butcher; Oroua, Bros. E. \\". Drake and G. Hansen; Lind, Sister G. Osman and Bro. AI. It. Griffiths. Tho syiiabus committee were appointed to make arrangements tor the chairmanship competition to be held at the June meeting. Apologies were received and accepted tor several members who were unavoidably absent, tiie meeting then closed and supper was served. ACORN LODGE. A nieeting of the Acorn Lodge was held -at the Coronation Hall, Terrace End, on F'liday last. A.D. Bro. Bowler presided over a very large gathering. The District President, Bro. Drake, paid an official visit and was received with Druidic honours. P.A. Bro. Ayeis reported upon attending the Friendly Societies’ Council and presented a financial report of the society. P.A. Bro. Hansen reported upon attending meetings of the Dispensary Board and the Oroua Lodge. An invitation was extended to the Oroua Lodge to contest the euchre shield at the next meetirig ot the Acorn Lodge. Numerous members of Ala.kino, Lind and Oroua Lodges were present and all returned thanks for the kindly reception given them. It was mentioned that the usual bowls tournament, held at Easter time, would in future be held on the King’s Birthday. Alembers were advised of the coming meeting of. the R.A.C. The A.D. disposed of the business of the lodge in a very' efficient manner in order to allow tli-e lodge to greet members' wives and friends. Supper was served by the stewards and the remainder of the evening wa.s spent in dancing and Cards, being greatly enjoyed by the many visitors present.
