(From Our Own Correspondent.) TAIICOREA, Alay 12. On Monday I lie first of the competition basket ball matches was held at Taikorea, when the home team met Kopanc. Alcmbors and friends of the local team had spent a busy time marking out their court, erecting goals etc., and the now ground must have been a mascot, Taikorea winning a. hard game by 15 goals to 2. The teams were: — Kopano: R. Tufty, I. Alcager, H. Alorriss. G. Dawn, B. Hall, J. Glasgow, D. Boddy, M. D. Farrell, M. Mitchell (captain). Taikorea: R. Bailey. D. Whitmore, B. A. Rogers, M. Castle, I. Cornwall, R. Hill H. Cooksley, B. Eicltler and I. Heliir (captain). M. Rogers was referee. Goals were thrown by R. Hill , (10), 11. Rich lor (3), and If. Cooksley (2) for Taikorea, while Aliss Boddv threw both Kopane’s goals. On tl to lino wore a number of local and visiting supporters of boll) teams. On Friday the social committee of the Taikorea llall hold a meeting to finalise arrangements for the concert and dance to be held shortly. The popular Ford Entertainers are providing the concert programme, while a pianist has been engaged to provide the daneo music. A free bus w-ill be run from Rongotca if there is sufficient inducement. Cream lorries collecting in this district have commenced collecting every other day, indicating that the slack season is at hand. The Taikorea Dairy Company is still collecting daily, but will probably be making cheese on alternate days only before very long.
