(From Our Own Correspondent.) Oil AREA, April 27. The final meeting of the present School Committee was held last week, when Mr F. 0. Bailey profiled over a full attendance. The meeting suggested various ways of raising funds to provide a drill area and these were referred to the householders’ meeting for consideration. Correspondence was received advising the committee of the proposed visit of pupils to Parliament Buildings, and it was decided to fall in with the suggestion. Accounts amounting to £l2 were passed for payment. The head teacher’s report revealed that the roll number and attendance were on the up-grade, the former being 48 and the latter 45.6. The report conveyed the thanks of the staff to the committee for their assistance and sympathetic treatment of any requests made. It was decided to obtain quotations for the supply of firing. The question of supplying topdressing for the flower beds was left to Mr H. Ellory to attend to. The balance-sheet showed that the expenditure had been kept within the resources, a credit balance of £2l 2s lid being recorded.' The chairmen's report stated thut during the past year no substantial improvements had been carried out, but the grounds had been well maintained, and the flower beds made a most attractive setting. The school hall had boon successful and handsome profits had resulted. The picnics had been held on Mr 11. Ellery’s property and had been most successful functions. Since the lust nieet•'ng Miss Price had resigned in order to he married, her position being filled by Miss Wude. The school roll had been maintained. The school had been graded “Good” and this reflected great credit o.n the staff (Mr I. N. I.eet and Miss Wade). Tile sports activities had been well catered for, tlib hoys’ team winning the jewellers’ shield at the Feilding hockey tournament and, combined with Sanson, the footballers won the Te Kawau schools’ championship. Thanks were extended to the members of the committee for their loyal support, to the ladies for assistance at social functions, the staff for loyal services, the Education Board oflioiais for Ulcir sympathetic consideration of requests, to the parents tor their support, and the Press. The weather in the past week has been particularly boisterous, steady ruin and cold winds having been experienced oil most days. A total rainfall for the week of 1.21 inches has been recorded. Miss Joyce Pedersen has returned home from hospital and is making a steady recovery. Mr 11. Ellery and Miss Elfa Ellery have returned from a short stay in Napier. Miss lilva Pedersen has now recovered from hei recent operation.
