ALLEGATION OF BRIBERY. Received April 27, 12.30 p.m. NEW YORK, April 26. The recent investigation ordered by Governor Lehman into the administration of the New York criminal law has resulted in the suicide of Sergeant Hcmendinger, of the Police Department, who shot himself a few hours before he was to appear with his bank records for questioning by the Governor’s investigators in connection with bribery arising from a notorious murder case. Charges had been made that large sums of money were distributed among the police in efforts to hush up the killing of Sam Drukiiian, a gangster.
