EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD,” APRIL 24, 1906.
A decision had been made to build another dried milk factory at Bunnythorpe to replace that destroyed by fire a few months before. The Foxton Borough Council had commissioned an architect to draw up plans and specifications for municipal offices and a library. . ~ , It was reported that a \\ aituna resident had purchased a 30 horse-power car, “one of the most powerful yet brought into the Colony.” , . ■ , ~ „ It was pointed out that m Taranaki there were 16 road boards. One had jurisdiction over 16 ratepayers and another had an annual income of £2l in rates. Oil of good quality, and freef rom water, was flowing from the bore at Moturoa. The Olympic Games had opened at Athens in the presence of 50,000 spectators.
