QUESTION OF TRANSFERS. GROWING OPPOSITION. BRITISH POLITICIANS. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) • Received April 24, 9.35 a.m. LONDON, April 23. The Morning Post’s political correspondent says the movement in favour of the Government unequivocally refusing’to consider the transfer ol mandates to Germany is growing. The Liberal supporters of the League ol xvations have joined forces with .the Conservative back-Dencliers in dissatislaction over Air J. H. Thomas’s vaguo statement on April 21. It is widely felt that if the Government consulted the Dominions it would discover that they would strongly resist even tlie suggestion of the mandates being transferred.

SETTLERS CONCERNED
LONDON, April 22.. The Daily Telegraph’s Dar-es-Sal-aam correspondent says that the absence of any British Government pronouncement on Tanganyika’s future, coupled with German settlers’ confidence that their former colony of 360,000 square miles and 5,000,000 inhabitants will be restored to them, creates growing uneasiness. Alany important interests, particularly in gold mining, are suspending operations and farmers are restive. The British Indian community intends to appeal to Delhi to take up the matter in London. A committee representative of all races will present petitions to the GoYernnient giving the settlers’ viewpoint and seeking South African and Rhodesian support.
