A match played between Whakarongo and liunuytjiorpe oil the local tennis courts was won by tho small margin of ono game by the visiting team.' Dotails are an follow:—Ladies’ singles: Mrs Oxenhan: lost to Miss Robson, 4—6; Miss Vautier lost to Miss W. Robson r 2—6; Miss Fi. Yautier beat Mrs Jackson, 6—2: Miss O’Brien beat Mrs Baker, 6—2. Men’s singles: S. Oxonham lost to L. Little, 4 —6; W. Vautier lost to H. Robson, 4—6; . I. Vautier lost to J. Gore, 2—6; F, Kensington beat F. Godfrey, 6 —2. Ladies’ doubles: Mrs Oxonham and Miss Vautier beat Misses Robson, 6—5; Misses M. Vautier and O’Brien beat Mesdjunes Jackson and Baker, 6—l. Men’s doubles: Oxonham and Vautier beat Little and Robson, 6 —5; I. Vautier and Kensington lost to Gore and Godfrey, 3—6. Mixed doubles: Oxenham and Mrs Oxonham lost to Little and Mrs Robson, 4 —6; Vautier and Mrs Vautier lost to Robson and Miss W. Robson, o—6; I. VaiUicr and Miss M. Vautier beat Goro and Mrs Jackson, 6 —3; Ivonsington and Miss O’Brien lost to Godfrey and Firs Bakpr, 4 —6. Scores; Whakarongo, 8 sets, 71 games; Runnythorpo, 8 sets, 72 games. A meeting of tho tennis committee was held recently. It was decided to hold the tennis tournament final on April 26 owing to the 25th being a holiday for Ansae Bay. All members who conld do so were asked to attend. Advantage will bo taken _of this gathering io bid farewell to an active member, Mr R. L. Gibbs, who is leaving tho district nt ah early date. It was decided to hold tho annual dance on May 7, if possible (to be advertised). The trophies, etc., will be presented by Mr MeLeavcy. Firs Oxcnham’s trophy for tho gentleman winner in the mixed doubles was gratefully received as also was Miss Woodd’s trophy for the most ladder challengers. Commencing this season miniature silver cups arc to be presented to the winners of the cups now being competed for. These small cups may be kept by the winners.
Fir E. Uhrboni,' of Christchurch, is the guest of his parents. Fliss Vautier spent tho week-end in Wellington, where she represented the Ffanawatu Basketball Association. Mrs W. Byers, who was an inmate of the Hospital, has returned home. At a meeting of the Ilall Committee, Messrs H. Gore (chairman), A. Crawford (secretary), W. and I. Vautier, P. Christianson, H. Crawford, and R. Gore were present. It was decided to have alterations made to the damaged chimney. Suggestions concerning alterations and remodelling of the hall wore made and held over till a future date. On Tuesday night 40 players journeyed from Bunnythorpo to engage Whakarongo in a match for tho Whakarongo Shield, which was won by the visitors by 90 games to 80.
