NORTH WELLINGTON FEDERATION,
ANNUAL COUNCIL MEETING
Tho amni.il council meeting of the North Wellington Federation of Women’s Institutes was held yesterday m the Municipal Hall. Miss M. Grant, presided over a representative gatherinfi and extended a welcome to the, large number present. In addition, j members were welcomed at the door ,v Miss Grant and Mrs Waring-laylor. ' Associated with the president on the platform were Miss Jerome Spencer, of ltissington, Hawke’s Bay (founder of the movement in New Zealand), Mrs S. Millen, of Wanganui, Miss Madclever (president of tlic South TV fillington Federation), Mrs J. D. C. Crewe (president of the Bush-Wairarapa l'ederatiop), all former members of the executive; Mrs Bryant (president of ■the Wanganui Federation;, and Mrs; Bellow (president of the ltuapehu bed-; eratioii). . , , The following members of the executive were present Mesdames WaringTaylor (Shannon), A. McCorkindale (Feilding), vice-presidents, E. E. Short Cheltenham), A. K. Drew (Sanson), A J Will (Rongotea), T. Lynch (Linton) R. H. H. Guthrie (Rangiwahia), Marumaru (Bulls), S. J. Barnicoat (Kimbolton), treasurer, and W. L. Shbrt (Cheltenham), secretary. An apology for absence was received from Mrs A. P. Easton (Foxton), and sympathy was expressed with her m her illness. The good wishes of those present- for a speedy recovery would go out to Mrs Easton, who had the movement at heart, said the president. Mrs H. Paterson (Pahiatua), Dominion president, and Mrs Kelso, Dominion organiser, sent good vishes. Miss Spencer, who was obliged to leave early, was accorded musical honours on her departure. A bouquet made by Mrs J. Bowater (Sanson) was presented to the president by Mrs G. Adam (Sanson) and posies made by Mrs A. Iv. Drew (Sanson) were presented to the secretary and treasurer. . Miss Grant, in moving the adoption of the annual report paid a personal tribute to the co-operation accorded her by the executive, and spoke in glowing terms of tlie work of the. vice-presidents, secretary and treasurer. There had been much evidence of the co-operation and enthusiasm of the institutes ill the federation. She also made feeling reference to the passing of tlie late King. Miss Grant mentioned that the fifteenth anniversary of the New Zealand institutes was being celebrated this year. In conclusion, she voiced good wishes for the coming year. Sirs Waring-Taylor endorsed the remarks of the president, and eulogised her work. Tlie financial statement was presented by Mrs Barnicoat, and adopted. During a roll-call reports of the activities of the institutes were presented.
