(From Our Own Correspondent.) SANSON, April 24. The first autumn flower show arranged by the Sanson Women’s Institute was held in the Town Hall .on Wednesday cycnjng and proved to be a great success. Excellent entries were received in spite of the adverse weather conditions that prevailed before the show, and many fine blooms were exhibited. A feature was the fine display of cooking and needlework. Inc show was opened by the president of the institute (Mrs A. K. Drew) and in her remarks she stressed its value as an aid to the appreciation of beauty and coiigratulatcd the exhibitors on the very lugn standard of the cntri.es. She also took the opportunity of thanking the judges who officiated at the function and were as follow:—Flowers and vegetables: Misses 1 and 0. L.eyett and Mrs Stevens (Bulls) ; decorative, Mrs j. T. Gibbons and Miss R. McKclvie (Carnarvon); cooking, Mrs W. J’ Phillips (Palmerston North). During the evening the public were entertained by jthc members of the institute .drama circle with a play entitled “Little Glass Houses which they recently presented at the drama competitions. Those who took part wero Mcsdamcs J. Bowater, A. Adams, Misses Gwen Adams, R.ona Dwyer, and Lily Gcdyc and they gave a delightful rendering of the characters. Competitions were won by the following:—Nail driving, Mrs CV E. J.' 'Egiintcn Andies) and Mr J. Lumsden (men) ; pair of fowls, Mr R. Nicol. A produce etall was in the capable hands of Mrs A. Adams and the afternoon tea arrangements were . controlled by Mrs T A. Murphy. Supper was scryed in the evening by the institute members, and Mrs W. E. Pearce and Mr C.
