In responding, Mr Wicks, who was accorded musical honours, said he had spent many pleasant days on tho links, and ho was more than souy to sever his connection with the club. In thanking the president for kind i - marks and the members for their - Tallied gift, iic expressed wishes for tho future success and progress of each individual member and the club as a whole. , There was an unusually large attendance of members at the Eketahuna Club on Saturday night, when the annual meeting was held. The report and balance-sheet, adopted as read, revealed a heal hy position with a satisfactory membership, the following officers were elected for tho ensuing year:— President, Mr U. Walton, vice-president, Mr W. O. Twentymari (Hukanui) ; secretary, Mr 1. Knight (re-elect-ed) ; auditor, Mr E. 11. Kenny; committee, Messrs F. Cowlam, W. Olsen, O. Wager (Newman), J. R. Carrutlicrs (Hanma) and W. Duffill. After the business portion of the programme bad been transacted, a presentation, consisting ot a beaten brass log box with fender to match, was made to Mr F. Cowlam. whose association with the club lias extended °) cr a lengthy period. During this time the recipient has displayed a keen interest m tho activities of the club and in recognition of his services he was honoured by being elected an honorary life member. In responding, Mr Cowlam recalled some amusing early reminiscences in connection with the club. He expressed thanks for their handsome gift and the honour bestowed upon him. Mr C. L. Richards, at present local branch manager of the hardware department of a Wuirarapa firm, is rclinguisliing his position shortly to enter into a business partnership in Wanganui. Mr 11. Little, postmaster at Ohakunc and late of Eketahuna, with Mrs Little, has been revisiting the town. Mr Little proceeded to Wellington yesterday, while Airs Little, who is the guest of Mr and Mrs W. Dawson, Bridge Street, remained to attend the induction service and welcome extended Rev. Mr Hindmarsh, which took place at the Methodist Church last night. Fire-Inspector Jcsson reported at the Borough Council meeting, hold on Monday night, that in conjunction with Superintendent Rogers ho had made a careful inspcction of business premises, halls and other .important buildings during Fire Prevention Week, where lie found very satisfactory conditions prevailing. Tho librarian (Mr D. P. Dopson) reported that tho hooks in the municipal library now numbered 4893, with now books corning to hand. Several nciv periodicals and newspapers had boon added to the public reading room. The total amount received for library subscriptions was £52 15s 9d.
