BETTING FACILITIES.
SYNOD RESOLUTION. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, April 21. The Presbyterian Synod of Otago and Southland, at its annual meeting ! to-day, passed the following resolution: “That , this synod views with opprehension the prospect of increased facilities being provided for gambling and betting through an increase in the I number of racing permits and the establishment of betting shops, and ex- ! presses the hope that the. Labour ! Government, which was given a mandate to bring about improvements,.will not become responsible for dowering the moral standard of the community by introducing such measures.”
