GRACE DARLING’S BOAT
APPEAL FOR PRESERVATION. An effort is being made to provide money to house the boat, at present lying in a disused shed at Ba.mburgh, in which Grace Darling went from the Longstone Lighthouse to the rescue of the passengers and crew of the Forfarshire 98 years ago. The appeal for funds to provide the boat with accommodation worthy of its association, .with a room attached in which relics of Grace Darling will be exhibited, bears the signatures of Lord Armstrong, Mr C. M. Foster, Air G. It. Wilkinson, and Hon. Harold Robson. ‘‘The sit chosen for this building is practically alongised the cottage in which Grace Darling was born, faces the churchyard in which she is buried, and is close to her tomb,” state the signatories. “This 6ite has kindly been given by Lord Armstrong. Once the boat is established in a building the Royal National Life-Boat Institution will make itself responsible for its maintenance.”
