(From Our Own Correspondent.) WHAKARONGO, April 20. The prizes at the last euchre and dance were won by Mcsdames G. Walker. Lancaster and W. McMurray (equal with 10 games 'each), Mr J. McCool (134), Mr N. Clinton (10£); Miss D. _ Hnzolhurst and Mr S. Johnson, consolation ,awards. The chairman announced that from the next euchre ladies would be charged Is instead of a basket as had been the custom, and the committee will attend to supper arrangements. The next euchre party will see the commencement of the points prize series, the scores in nine out of ten nights taking the prizes. Mr N. Speedy and Mrs Lancaster were winners of' the Monto Carlo dance. At a meeting of the Football Club it was decided to change the namo to Whakarongo Football Club. Messrs E. Rout and F. Eaglo were elected delegates to attend the Manawatu Union’s meeting It was decided to enter a team in the junior section. The tennis tournament has made good progress. In the ladies’ singles Miss M. Vautier plnys Miss A. Olsen _iu the final. F. Greene and Miss C. Vautier were the winners of the doubles. Men’s singles, first life, W. Vautier plays the winner of the Oxenliam-Gore match; second life, fi. Greene plays the winner of the first fife in the final. Mr and Mrs Knudsen spent a touring holiday at Easter. The Tennis Club are holding; a farewell function .at the courts shortly for Mr R. Gibbs. . . ■ , . . Mrs W- Byers is on inmate of a, private hospital. Mr Puklowski, who has been in hospital for some months, has returned homo. Miss I. Woodd, who was recently obliged to enter hospital for an operation, is speedily recovering. On Good Friday some residents counted the motor cars passing along the main Palmerston Nortli-Napier highway and between 8.45 a.m. and 5.45 pun. counted no fewer than 1400.
