(From Our Own Correspondent.) ASHHURST, April 20.

The annual meeting of the Ashhurst Returned Soldiers’ Association was held on Friday evening, Rev. 11. B. Goertz presiding over a very good attendance. The report disclosed that progress had been made, while the financial statement revealed a sound position. Two functions bad boon held during the year, one at Raumai and one at Ashhurst, in each case the funds raised being handed over to the local ITall Committee. Officers elected for the ensuing year are: —Patron, MajorGeneral R. Young, C. 8., C.M.G., D. 5.0.; president, ' Rev. 11. B. Goertz; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs A. McKinlay and 1. J. Spelman; committee, Messrs J. A. Rowbotham, H. W. Drummond, E. Morris, J. E. Hewitt, A. Balmcr, M. J. Murphy, D. Spelman and W. J. Pa’ne. It was decided that the Anzac Dav celebrations should be on the lines of previous years. Invitations to assist at tho parado had been forwarded to the Manawat.u Pipi Band and to “N” Squadron of tho Legion of Frontiersmen. The assistance rendered by those liodies is fully realised by the local branch and it is to be hoped that they will once again render the parado more attractive by their presence. In tho event of weather conditions proving unsuitable for an outdoor service, the parade will circle the Triangle and then proceed to the Public Hall, where wreaths will be laid on the cenotaph, School children will, join the parade at the school gatos. It is ant’eipated that the speaker will be Major Rose. of Palmerston North. Returned sold’ers were asked to fall in at tho Parish Hall at 10 a.m., when Sergt.-Major Paine will take charge and finally move off at 10.15 a.m. Dress will be mufti, with medals, badge and poppy.
