HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated April IS, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London : Tallow.—Market continues quiet with values nominally unchanged. Tendency easier. Hemp.—Manila market quiet but steady at the decline. Value K grade for April-June shipment, £2O 10b. Sisal market quiet and slightly easier. April/ June and May/July shipments valued at £26 15s. New Zealand market quiet and nominally unchanged. No first-hand sales reported. Stocks in London 129 tons, against 30 tons at the same time last year. Fruit.—Rangitiki discharging fruit in good condition. Market still slow, hut there is a sign of improvement. The following are the market values of sound-conditioned fruit of the varieties mentioned, the range of prices generally representing the difference between the several grades and/or countk. Variable conditioned fruit of similar varieties proportionately loss In value:—Apples: Cox’s Orange, 9s to 15s; Jonathan, 9s 6d to 12s: Ballarat, Rihston Pippin, and Worcester Pearmain, 8s to 10s; Lord Wolseley, 8s 0d to 9s 6d; Alfriston, London Pippin, Gravenstein, and Willie Sharp, 7s to 9s. Pears; Comice, 10s to L3s; Trays, 9s to 10s; Beurre Bose, 10s to 12s; Conference, 9s to 11s; Louise Bon Jersey, 9s to 10s; Beurre Olairgeau, 8s to 9s. Joseph Nathan and Coy., Ltd., have •received from London the following cabled advice, dated April 18:—New Zealand butter, 86s; market very quiet. New Zealand cheese; White. 53s Gd; coloured, 535; market firm. The Bank of Now South Wales has received the following report dated April 18 from its London office:—Mutton : Ewes, 3(d to 4§d ; wethers, 3j}d to s£d ; lamb, 6(1 to 7Jd; beef, 2jjd to pork, 5d to 53d. Butter, 86s. Cheese, white 545, coloured 545. Wool: Prices for Merinos and fine crossbreds 'are rather easier, but medium crossbreds remain firm with coarse descriptions slightly dearer.
