DEER-STALKING.

Having accounted for between 30 and 40 stags between them, Messrs R. AY. Priest, E. Barling and Cl. K. Lane, of Palmerston North, members of a deer-stallring party which spent a fortnight in the Southern Alps beyond Otira, returned home during the weekend. Among the best of the heads secured were On 18, a 16 and a 15polntcr. The greater part of the hunting was done well above tile snow line, but’the deer Were not very numerous and good heads were scarce. The party experienced good weather, with •little rain, and spent an enjoyable time.
