PRESENTATION.

A very pleasant function took place in the local engineer’s branch of the Post and Telegraph Department on Tuesday, the 14 instant, the occasion being a presentation to Miss M. C. Ax. Mr H. C. Brent, telegraph engineer, in making the presentation of a handsome fire-screen, expressed his regret at losing the services of Miss Ax. During the nine years she had been associated with this office her work had been ' characterised with efficiency and speed. He was confident that, with her fine temperament, she would be equally successful in her married life. The very _ high esteem in which she was held in this and other branches was very obviously proven by the large number present. Air E. Bringezu, supervisor, said it- gave him great pleasure to endorse the remarks of Air Brent. The services rendered by Aliss Ax were willingly and 'creditably performed, and her departure was a decided loss .to the office. However, what they had lost was someone else’s gain. He wished her every happiness in her married life. • Aliss Ax, in replying; said that it was hard to leave all her official friends behind, but she would have nothing but very pleasurable memories of the many days she had spent in the service.
