CHILD ACTOR.
ANOTHER CUSTODY ACTION. LOS ANGLES, April 19. A controversy over the custody of Freddie Bartholomew, the talented 12-year-old film actor, reached the stage of' legal action to-day with t»ie filing of a suit by his mother, Mrs Lilian Bartholomew, to remove the child from the gaurdianship of his aunt, Miss Millieent Bartholomew. The suit claimed that the child had been brought to America illegally and alleged that the aunt promised to return him to England within 60 days. Instead, she remained at Hollywood to make the child a world-famous player with a fabulous income. The mother s petition said that she had never relinquished her son’s guardianship. Since the age of three she allowed Freddie to reside with his grandmother at Warminster, because it was more healthy than the factory town where the family lived. It further alleged that Freddie’s father Cecil Bartholomew, secretly entered into an agreement with liis sister, granting approximately a third of the child’s earnings to her, one-third going to the grandparents, and the remaining third going to a trust fund for the child. The mother asks the Court to void this financial agreement and award full custody of the child to her.
