LOAN ADVOCATED.

TAR-SEALING GF STREETS. Commenting that applications for the tar-sealmg of streets were so numerous that provision could not be made in the estimates to meet more than a quarter of the requests, Cr G. Tremaine moved, at the meeting of the City Council last evening, that the engineer prepare a schedule of the streets, with an estimate of the cost involved, so that loan proposals could be submitted to the ratepayers to finance the work. He stated that the schedule need not specify, which streets would be dealt with, but- the work would mean a substantial saving in maintenance costs. Cr W. B. Cameron seconded the motion, which was carried.
