MINER’S DEATH.

CAUGHT BY FALL. Per Press Association. INVERGABILL, April 6. An accident occurred at what is known as the Battery, near Glenorchy, on Saturday afternoon resulting in the death of John William Jonas Clingin, a scheelite miner, aged 34. He was a married man and resided at Glenorchy. Clingin, with a mate, William Ernest Tyree, was working in an open shaft picking scheelite. Tyree walked over to his coat to see the time and suddenly a fall of rock weighing about a ton, crashed down on top of Clingin, who was killed instantly. Tyree was unable to extricate him and gave the alarm, assistance being rendered by several residents.
