VOTES FOR HITLER
THE GERMAN POLL. ENTHUSIASTIC SCENES. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received March 30, 2.15 pirn. BERLIN, Alarch 29. Herr Hitler several times this evening showed himself on the balcony of the Chancellery to wildly cheering and singing crowds, who shouted menacingly when it was announced by wireless that' thousands of anti-Hitler votes had been cast. The Angriff brought out a special edition announcing “The greatest victory in history.” The results were brought to the town halls, thence to the Propaganda Ministry in Berlin for totalling. The urst result, broadcast at 8.30 p.m., disclosed that 98$ per cent, of zOO.OOO electors had polled, while J 9.24 per cent, of the votes favoured Herr Hitler. The announcements proceeded steadily about this ratio, a message at 9.15 showing 33,927,207 for and 388,494 against Hitler. It could be safely said that Germany had demonstrated that it was a nation of “yes men.” The total number entitled to vote was not mentioned so it is impossible to ascertain the number abstaining. The final vote will bs broadcast throughout the world.
