Rev. William Bryan Reed, who is stated to have been the oldest minister in the Alethodist Church, has died at Bideford, Devon, at the age of 99. He would have been 100 on April 27.

The friends of Air V. F. Buxton Rogers, of Dannevirke, who underwent a serious operation in a Palmerston North private hospital on Wednesday, will regret to learn that his condition is causing some anxiety. A London correspondent, writing on February 29, says that Air I E. S. Orbell, of Waikouaiti, who entered the Royal Alilitary College, Sandhurst, in the middle of 1934, lias been granted a commission in the Gurkhas. Following his success at the National Rifle Aleetmg, where he won the Dpminion championship for the third time Captain W. N. Alasefield, of Blenheim, will probably compete in the New South Wales championship in October.

Flying-Officer D. L. Dustin, twin son of Mr and Airs D. E. Dustin, of Wanganui, and formerly of Palmerston North, has accepted an engagement with an aviation company in Persia and will be stationed at Abaden. Flying-Oificer Dustin was formerly in the Royal Air Force.'

The death has occurred of Rev. Ereatara Alohi Eruini at the age of 46. He was a leader of the Ngati-Makino subtribe of the Ngnti-Pikaio, living on the shores of Lake Rotoiti, and throughout Ins life he was closely identified with the life and activities of his people. He received his theological training at Te Rau College, Gisborne, and was ordained in 1900, subsequently being stationed at Rotorua, Tokaanu, Taupo, and Whakatane. He was then at Rotorua again, and later at Alaketu.

The death has occurred in Auckland of Captain A. E. St. ClairWhyte who, as managing director of Nearing and Company, stevedores, was for many years a familiar figure on the waterfront. lie was in his 67th year. Captain St. Clair-Whyte was the first officer of the Pakelia when, 33 years ago, lie gave up seafaring to come ashore. He began as a junior partner with Captain Nearing and Captain Streeter in the stevedoring business of Nearing and Company, and eventually he took over the whole business and continued as its managing director until in 1930 it was re-formed under its present name, the Auckland Stevedoring Company.
