DELICIOUS TREACLE SPONGE. This is a delightful pudding, and when the weather is not too hot you might like to make one as a “surprise” to the family. Mix together 4oz. flour, 2oz. suet (shredded), 1 pinch salt, a teaspoon of ground ginger. Add a beaten egg and two tablespoons of syrup. Heat half a teacup of milk, stir in J teaspoon of bicarbonate of Soda and add to the mixture. Stir well, put tablespoon of. syrup in the bottom of a greased basin, then pour in the mixture. Cover with greaseproof paper and steam for hours. ‘
