RED CROSS ’PLANE

DAMAGED BY ITALIANS. ANOTHER PROTEST TO GENEVA. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received Alareli 18, 12.35 p.m. LONDON, Alarch 17. The Bessie correspondent of the Times says that an Italian bombing plane damaged at Quorum, but not irreparably, the Fokker aeroplane which Haile Selassie presented to the Abyssinian Red Cross. It was usually piloted by the Swedish airman, Bayou Von Rossen. The Fokker was plainly marked with the Red Crass on both wings and was standing unconcealed on the plain. The Italian machine descended to within 600 feet, rising a machine-gun and bombs. The officer in charge, Dr. Juno, lias reported the occurrence to Geneva, pointing out that the Fokker ’plane was not connected with military services.

SCHEME 0E REVOLT. ABYSSINIANS BRIBED. BUT CHEAT ITALIANS. Received Alarch 18, 1.10 p.m. ADDIS ABABA, Alarch 17. Five thousand Gailas of the Azebo tribe, whom the Italians supplied with arms and money to enable them to revolt, brought the money and arms to the Emperor, to whom they swore allegiance. Consistent, though unconfirmed, reports -support the belief that the Italians are in grave danger of being cut off at Amba Alagi. Haile Selassie is reported to be in personal command of the defenders. An intense aerial bombardment is sweeping the entire front and is believed to be the prelude to a fresh offensive by General Graziani. The Italians hope to prevent the Abyssinians from reassembling their forces on the extreme left, namely, the Negelli sector, where Ras Desta was defeated. v
