SOCIAL FUNCTIONS.

CHELTENHAAI BRIDGE PARTY. In aid of the funds of the Cheltenham AAMmen’s Institute queen candidate, Aliss Joan Billman, Airs AV. G. Booth gave a bridge party at her residence. Prizes were won by Airs J. AA'illiamson (AVaituna) and Air L. J. Carmine (Feilding). Air N. Hoeken (Colyton) won the prize for the hidden number and Aliss Billman that for a competition. Airs Billman, who was among those present, wore black lace and georgette relieved with shell-pink, and her daughter was in a pretty creation of floral crepe-de-chine. A street stall was held in Feilding for Aliss Billman with very satisfactory results. A large quantity of produce was forthcoming from town and country friends, and was readily disposed of. Those in charge of the stall were Alesdames E. E. Short, F. G. Billman and Shepherd (Cheltenham), who were assisted by several younger members of the Cheltenham Women’s Institute.

BIRTHDAY AT BEACONSFIELD. Air and Airs A. H. Entwisle, of Beacousfield, gave a party in the schoolroom in honour of the 21st birthday of their daughter Isla. Excellent music was provided by Miss AI. Fitzpatrick (piano). Air Gordon Fitzpatrick (accordion), Air G. Dick (piano and piano accordion) and Air A. AA’right (piano). Aliss G. AA’. Entwisle won a competition after being equal with Aliss J. Duncan. The birthday hour was officially marked at 9.15 when Air R. Stuart proposed the health of the guest of honour. The health was drunk with musical honours, her father then handing her- a small gold key and proposing the health of Air Lance Duncan, who also celebrated his 21st birthday tlia.t day. The cutting of the cake was duly carried out, following which dancing was continued until supper. Humour was supplied by the staging of a “children’s hour” through the

local “station.” An “aunt” and “uncle” made birthday calls to Alias Entwisle and Air Duncan. Little Nancy Eames piresented Aliss Entwisle with a bouquet. A large key, presented to Aliss Entwisle by Air A. AA’right, was autographed by all present. FEILDING FOOTBALL CLUB. ST. PATRICK’S NIGHT DANCE.Feilding Football Club members marked the approach of the new foothall season, on Tuesday, by holding a dance in the Drill Hall. The function was favoured by a perfect night for dancing and a large number were present. Alusic was supplied by a local orchestra, while the supper served was all that could he desired. Air G. AlcCorkindale was AI.C., and extra music was played by Air A. Feeney and Air E. Bramwell.
