CRICKET.

COMPETITIONS CLOSED. At a meeting of the management committee of the Feilding Cricket Association, last evening, it was agreed to close the Guthrie Shield competition as from Saturday. March 7, and to declare Colyton the winners of the 1935-36 season by one point from Old Boys. Sir C. E. Taylor was in the chair and also present were Messrs G. J. Fitzpatrick, N. L. Fitzpatrick, Mf Barltrop, J. Dewe and T. Donaldson (secretary). In addition to the above decision regarding the A grade championship, the committee resolved to continue the competitions until April 4. the games to count in the Bartholomew Cup figures for the best batting average. The junior competition will also be carried along until the same date. The challenge of the Southern Hawke’s Bay Association for a Goldfinch and Cousins Cup match at Feilding on Saturday', March 28, was accepted. Regarding the B grade games for that day, it was decided to await the arrival of the visiting team and. if they are agreeable to the games being played on the same ground, they will be continued. The Manawatu B team also entered a challenge for the cup, and it was decided that this be considered following the playing of the Southern Hawke’s Bay game. The meeting deferred the request of the Ilangitikei Association for a representative match until after the cup match on Sfsrch 28.

Mr Donaldson reported that there was a likelihood of a representative team from the Hutt visiting Feilding during Easter, and it was agreed to endeavour to arrange a match if the visit eventuates, but not to the exclusion of Rangitikei or Manawatu. Reference was also made by the secretary to the tardiness with which some of the junior teams supplied their batting statistics for the Bartholomew Cup records, and it was decided to request them to forward batting particulars as soon as possible.

COLYTON TEAM. The following will be the Colyton team for Saturday:—Bramwell, Howell, H. and M. Fitzbirbert, J. and AI. Waldin, Gibson, Shepherd, Hoeken. MacLeod, Thurston. Emergencies: Power and A. Waldin.
