DEATH ANNOUNCED. Patou pink, Patou blue, Patou amber, Pa ton petrol—four of the most delicate and lovely colours worn by the smart women of to-day, were all given to the world by Patou, one of the masters of the art of dress designing; and now lie is dead. The news from Paris that the great Patou, who was ranke" among the “big ten” of world famous dress designers, will interest all women, for the fame of his salon in Paris has spread wherever smart women gather, and just on the eve of his death Patou was planning to open a salon in London. Ranked with him are Vionnet, Alainhocher, Molyneux, Lelong, Worth, Augustabernard, Schiaperelli, Lanvin, and Chanel. Of them all Patou was the most famed for the sheer artistry of his creations. The death of Patou recalls fo mind the descriptions given of him by one of his chief models. Miss Atargaret Vyner, when she returned to Sydney recently, after working under Patou in Paris. Of Piitou Afiss Vyner said that his criticisms, although severe, were constructive. He was a hard taskmaster, and made her walk before him in the same gown every day tor a month; but when his training was completed lie had made her ins star mannequin.
