PAHIATUA, March .16. During tlio week-end, a rink from the Pahiatua Bowling Club successfully defended the Lyme Cup when they engaged tlie Dannevirko players on the Panialna greens. The links were: —Murphy, Carrad, Petersen, A. Biesett (skip) 20 v. Davis, Webiey, Cole, 'Tatare (skip) 19. ’ The shop day held by members of the St. Peter’s Church of England choir on Saturday was an outstanding success and raised some £lO. Those in charge were:— Mesdames W. H. Purdie, W. L. Tattle, H. A. Bick, A. W. Hamilton, J. G. Green, and V. J. Scott, and Alisa Goldicutt. On Saturday a team from the Makuri Tennis Club successtully defended the Badger Cup trophy against the Atangamutu A team, winning by 14 sets and 134 games to 10 sets and 124 gaine6._ A meeting if the Druids' Lodge was held on Thursday, A.D. Bro. H. Fisher, junr., presiding. Visitors were present from AJasterton, Dancnvirke, Wiiangarei, Palmerston North, Terraco End, and Eketahuna; also in attendance wore tho D.P. of tho district, D.P. of No. 1, P.G.P, Bro. Jackson (Palmerston North) and P.G.P. Bro. Bailoy (late of Canterbury Grand Lodge). A Druidic welcome was accorded to tho visiting officers and brethren. At tjie request of the A.D., ‘the officers of the Stonehenge Lodge (Masterton) took charge and carried out tho initiation ceremony, for which they were accorded a vote of thanks. Tlio visitors returned thanks for the invitations received. Able and instructive addresses wore given by P.G.P. Bro. Bailoy and P.G.P. Bro. Jackson. The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing. Sister Z. Levy contributed two vocal items, while Bro. Husband (Myrtle Lodge) told humorous stories. "Bro. Mills was at the piano, and his musical associates performed capably. A good number of children, parents and friends was present at the Mangamutu School picnic held on tfio Mnngamutu Domain. Sports events occupied tho greater part of the day.
